About The Founders Club of Sandston
The Founders Club of Sandston was organized in 2004 by a group of friends that grew up in Sandston in the 1920's and 1930's. Their goal was to form an organization to provide fellowship and to document the history of Sandston. In 2007 they published a book, Sandston, Virginia ... the First 25 Years. In 2009 and 2012 supplemental books were published. Each of these books contain history and family stories written by the families of Sandston and compiled for the Founders Club of Sandston by June Banks Evans.
Membership in 2004 was limited to people that lived in Sandston in the 1920's and 1930's. Later membership was expanded to the direct descendants of anyone that lived in Sandston in the 1920's and 1930's. An associate membership has been added that is defined as anyone who lived in Sandston in or after the 1940's and is been recomended by a Club member and approved by the Board.
We meet annually on the last Saturday of April and dues are $15 per year. The Club has placed Plaques on several homes and businesses in Sandston to note their historical value. As a Club we participate in the annual Memorial Day Parade in Sandston.
